Argentina inflation tops 160% spotlighting challenge for Milei

Yet, newly elected president Javier Milei may have the wind at his back as he faces these major financial and economic challenges.

Here are insights via this chart and commentary from our “Latin America Investor Report”:

The chart shows the relative strength of the Global X MSCI Argentina ETF (ticker ARGT) versus the Vanguard Total World Stock Market ETF (ticker VT). ….

Curiously, after a decade of underperformance, ARGT started to outperform from last year. To be fair, some of that might be because the stock market in Buenos Aries, in peso terms, exploded higher (Zimbabwe style) as people rushed to paper assets to protect themselves from hyper-inflation. These ETFs are both priced in U.S. dollars, neutralizing the currency effect, but the nascent outperformance might just be a sign that Argentina may well be set for a comeback.

Another chart in the just-released “Latin America Investor Report” reveals the Elliott wave structure of ARGT and, once you see it, you’ll find out why it’s well worth knowing.
