Learning Fundamentals: Relative Strength Index (RSI)
The relative strength index (RSI) is a momentum indicator created by Welles Wilder Jr. This is a commonly used indicator and generally speaking, compares an asset against itself. Specifically, it measures price gains on upside closes vs price losses on downside closes. Trends, patterns and overbought/oversold readings are common ways to read RSI as it oscillates on a scale from 0 to 100.
