Good afternoon, Elliott Wave fans. I’m Dana Weeks with Market Minute for Monday, August 19th.

The New York Stock Exchange advancing issues relative to declining issues contracted from Friday’s close, as did the NYSE up/down volume ratio. Total stock market volume contracted for the 3rd day in a row. Read about this and more in tonight’s Short Term Update.

The Dow Industrials closed at 26,135.79 up 249.78.

The S&P 500 closed at 2923.65, up 34.97 points.

The NASDAQ Composite closed at 8003, up 107 points.

2,156 stocks closed up while 698 closed down. TRIN was .88.

E-mini S&P futures topped out at 2932.25, had a low of 2915.50, and closed at 2923.75. E-mini Nasdaq futures hit a high of 7750, a low of 7695.25, and closed at 7727.50.

T-bond futures were down over a point at 164^05.

The US Dollar index was up .16 at 98.37.

Gold was down 17 and a half dollars at 1506.10.

Silver was down 27 cents at 1685.
