Ask most investors, and they'll say that if they knew about the pandemic early enough, they would have gone to cash or shorted the stock market.
The reality is, China reported its first case on December 31. The news only got worse since then. Yet stocks climbed higher and higher -- to records highs! -- for weeks, until the peak finally came in mid-February.
In other words, COVID-19 is an easy target to blame the crash on, but knowing about it "early enough" would have hardly helped anyone make smarter investment choices.
Technical indicators, on the other hand, can tip you off before trend changes with a far greater reliability.
