$7.5 trillion. That's how much money foreigners hold in U.S. stocks today.
And that's NOT counting holdings by foreign sovereign wealth funds and central banks.
$7.5 trillion is an absolute record. As it happens, U.S. stocks are also trading at record highs. Coincidence?
As early as 1996, we at EWI noticed that "heavy foreign buying" of U.S. stocks tends to correspond to certain junctures in the markets.
Clearly, right now is one of those moments.
